Thank you very much for the info on gmail; it’s greatly appreciated.

I guess I will need to open a Gmail account unless anyone knows how to get Yahoo SMTP to work with DNN??

I can set up dnn to use gmail smtp... but the email sent based on this setting has "On behalf of ...." on the title, if I want to get rid of that I will have to use my domain's own smtp... how to deal with this?

I am using godaddy's smtp server, it has 250 smtp relays limit which is not enough for my site. I wonder if I could use gmail's smtp server for this purpose?

Thanks in advance...

If you want to use gmail and you want to get rid of 'on behalf of' you have to set up all your mail with Google and point your domain records across.

I did this because it offers probably the best web-based inbox for remote managment, allows full use of IMAP and has plenty of storage and has a free option.  Many hosting packages include mail + webmail but you're just using up your own allocated space for emails, no hosting company I know of gives you as much email space as gmail does.

I only bothered with the specific custom SMTP setup after I had already ported my mail across to gmail.  But in retrospect it's the best result all round.

Thanks for the response. I have two more questions: :-) 1. "If you want to use gmail and you want to get rid of 'on behalf of' you have to set up all your mail with Google and point your domain records across." I can set up all the mail with gmail through "Settings -> Accounts and Import -> Send Mail from another address -> I have to check "Send through mydomain.com SMTP servers" to get rid of the "on behalf of"... but in this case it using my my smtp server? What is "point your domain records across"? 2. Is there a smtp relay limit from google? Thanks!!
