Hi, I have DNN 6 and under Site Settings I changed the Log In setting to Home Page (not knowing the consequences). Now when I click Log In the pop-up window doesn't come up for me to log in. Instead it just loads the Home page again.

I tried to type in a url that I know has restricted access to see if the Log in screen would show, but it just goes to the Home Page. The Register pop-up comes up and I created a test account. Since the account is verified the code was sent by email along with the link to log in. This link goes to the Home page as well, so apparently no one can log in.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Madeline

you will need to remove (i.e. replace with Null) the value directly in the database: table PortalLocalization column LoginTab.
You will need to restart the applicaction (e.g. by saving web.config file) for database changes becoming effective.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for the reply. It took me a while to figure out how to access the database. I downloaded MS SQL Server Management Studio to access the DB remotely. I followed the steps you specified > tables > PortalLocalization > columns > Login TabId. But I'm not sure which value to change.

Thanks again.

Madeline,
Table portals will display the names of the portals in your installation with the portalIDs associated. if you right click table portalLocalization and select "Edit top 200 rows" you will be able to edit the proper row - copy&past null value from a different row into TabId column for your broken portal.
