I'm trying to put a tree view on my site with some expandable links. Nothing super-fancy, just a few lists of locations. I can get the HTML to work on my machine, but when I paste it into DNN on our server, it screws up big time. If anyone knows how to get DNN to behave when it comes to javascript, I'd appreciate some insight here as to what I might be doing wrong. Maybe I need to use a different script - I got one from a site that had a simple expandable tree and I modified it to include the text I needed.

Also I have problems putting in images - when I put an image into a table on the page with the expandable tree, it kills the javascript altogether and the tree view doesn't even expand at all.

Any reason you are not considering using the DNNTreeView control?

If you can send me a url to the page your having issue with, perhaps I could help.

Hi Jon:

We are trying to insert a simple TreeView script into a Text/HTML module and it seems like the Rich Text Editor keeps stepping on the HTML and reformatting it.  The HTML is not so good to begin with, I paste it into VS 2005 and get 45 errors for missing tags and lots of other no-nos.  That's big problem #1, which we I think we can get around by using the Basic Text Box setting?

The next issue are the references in the <IMG> tags.  I think we have to keep DNN from formating the <IMG> tag and creating a reference something like: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/ctl/PostEdit/mid/2108/forumid/108/postid/103520/action/reply/myImage.gif when all we need is something like http://www.dotnetnuke.com/images/myImage.gif.

Of course all this could be avoided if we use a tree view control like you mention.  Do you have to be a developer and/or have access to dev tools to implement this?  MFR is strictly non-development people.  They are super users when it comes to javascript and HTML, but no .NET development.

Thanks much.

I suggest using the basic html view of the editor.  For the images make sure you are using absolute paths (start with a /) instead of relative paths).

The dnn treeview could be used without .NET if you needed to, but it is easiest to use within .NET.  If they wish to try this route, I suggest having them look at this page.  Uncheck the populate from client checkbox.  Do a View source to see what is elements and script references are needed.

Good luck.
