Hello,

I just installed the ddn 4.8 version. I used the intsaller package. Everything is installed correctly. Before in the past I have seen how you have the viewstate on the bottom of the page for SEO. But in ny installed DNN the viewstate is on the top of the page. Is there any settings I need to change to enabel the SEO viewstate or am I missing something. Can someone please advise? Thanks a bunch.

One more question I have is login I select remember me but it does not remember me when I visit site next time. Is there a settings that needs to be changed?

Thank you,

Tareq

I've been searching for the solution for days. The new dnn4.8.0 changed the viewstate positon and my site's search engine ranking dropped dramatically lately ( I upgraded my site from dnn455 to dnn480 one month ago). I have a lot of viewstate on homepage and the search engine basically stopped indexing my home page.

Of course my site's traffic dropped a lot because of this. I wouldn't have upgraded if I had known about that. Big big problem.

There are lots of items which affect search engine ranking.  In fact when we researched this issue prior to 4.8 we could not find a single Asp.Net app other than DNN that moved viewstate.  Nor could we find any documentation that showed that the position of viewstate impacts SEO.  Given that sites like PageFlakes, ASP.Net, MSDN, MySpace and many others don't alter viewstate, then what evidence is there that viewstate has any impact whatsoever?  For every site whose page rank dropped after upgrading to 4.8, I can show you another site where pagerank was unnaffected (including DotNetNuke.com).

So you're saying some sites are in fact losing page rank after upgrading to 4.8?
