I have a module that I created in which I make a call to the Roles.IsUserInRole function in the page load event.  This module worked fine in version 4.0.3.  In version 4.3.1, the module does not display ("Error: <module name> is currently unavailable.").  Checking the log, it says the problem is with the System.Web.Security.Roles.IsUserInRole method.  The InnerException is "The Role Manager feature has not been enabled."  What does that mean?  Is there some setting I need to configure in web.config?  I have a number of security roles defined, and they are working fine with both the core modules and other custom modules I have created.  It's just the module where I call IsUserInRole that is a problem.  Any ideas?

I figured it out.  I guess I forgot to copy over the roleManager section from my web.config when I upgraded to 4.3.1.

As I said, in my case the problem was simply that I had forgotten to copy over the <roleManager> section from the old web.config file to the new web.config file.

I think the namespace may have changed slightly. If you inherit from the PortalModuleBase, you should be able to use

If

Me.UserInfo.IsInRole("rolename") Then ...
