Does anyone know how to elegently integrate Google SiteSearch into the skin?

I've played with the module Inventia Google Search and it isn't customizable enough for my needs. I'm trying to have a small neat search field under my nav bar with a search button and underneeth saying Powerd by Google with a google logo

When I add my variation of the HTML code supplied by google to the skin I'm getting a world of errors.

The code I'm using is as folows:

<table width="145" class="google">
 <tr>
  <td>
  <p align="center">Search
</p>
  <FORM method=GET action="http://www.google.com/search" id="google">
<p>
<INPUT TYPE=text name=q size=19 maxlength=255 value="">
<br>
<font size=-1>
Search in:<br>
<input type=radio name=sitesearch value="DOMAIN NAME GOES HERE" checked>
DOMAIN NAME GOES HERE
<br>
<input type=radio name=sitesearch value=""> The Web <br>
</font>
<br>
<INPUT type=submit name=btnG VALUE="Search">
<font size=-1>
<input type=hidden name=domains value="DOMAIN NAME GOES HERE">
</font>
</p>
<input type=hidden name=ie value=UTF-8>
<input type=hidden name=oe value=UTF-8>
</FORM>

You cannot use forms in your skin.

You will need to add it as a module using the google search on http://www.inventua.com

DotNetNuke doesn't allow the embedding of forms within skins and that is why you came up with errors.

Hi,

I also added  Google search on our www.socaldug.org user group site. I did it a little different though, and it was free. I added a search icon in the upper right corner (and even added a bit of javascript to make the image rollover on hover) and linked it to a file named google.html I created and placed in the SoCALDUG skin folder ( http://www.socaldug.org/portals/_default/skins/SoCALDUG/google.html ). The google.html file contains code from Google to place on our site to customize the search. You can see this simple code if you do a view search on the google.html after it is launched. When the user clicks on the search icon, a custom version of the Google search is launched which gives the user a choice to search  not only the internet, but the user group site as well. The Google code also adds our user group logo in the output and lets us customize the output link colors etc.
You can find out more about Google Free Customized as well as their new Beta Site-Flavored implementation at http://www.google.com/services/free.html if you'd like.

Another approach would be to use an iframe to call the google.html file.  This would allow you to use DHTML to position, size and layer the frame on the page without adding a whole new window.
