I am now dealing with DotNetNuke for more than 3 years. Originally I got across this project, when I looked for a CMS to replace our own ASP classic solutions, which became too expensive to maintain. We chose DNN, because it had some nice features, we were able to extend it and – last but not least – it was free. First I delegated creating a portal to a student, who was on practice at our company, but I quickly got fascinated myself from the power of the product, its extensibility – and its community. During the first months, I posed a number of questions into the forums (hosted on www.asp.net at that time) when I quickly found out my ability to help other novice users as well and started answering posts. The next year I became project lead for the DotNetNuke module “User Defined Table” (UDT) – with an own forum on dotnetnuke.com, that needed to be moderated and monitored. This forum became our main link to our users, getting feedback with motivation and ideas how to continue developing UDT – without it wouldn’t be as usable, as it is today. Same is the value of the general forums for the core team. We need the feedback (and I read nearly all of the posts) as much as our users need the forums to get assistance and I would like to ask you all to contribute, giving assistance to other users and provide feedback to the core team, because it is the community, that makes the difference.

I wish Merry Christmas to all those of you that are celebrating it and a good start into the next year.

Cheers from Germany,
Sebastian Leupold
