Hi,

I have a strange problem with View and Edit mode, which I think may have been caused by an older version of DNN (I am running 4.6.2 at the moment). It only affects long-term users, not new users.

Basically, some modules require Edit rights to create content - for example, on this profile, you need Edit rights to post on the Wall. This works well, but then I get some users reporting that they have no "Write Message" module action. I log in as them (ie. it's not a cookie issue I don't think as it is on my browser) and I cannot post.

I then gave that user edit rights, so that the Control Panel appears, and they are in View mode. I switch them to Edit mode, remove Admin role, and they can now post and see the Edit Module Actions from now on.

What I suspect happened is that when Iwas running 4.x (not sure what version it was -when the Control Panel appeared to all users whenever they had edit rights on a module) - these users switched to View mode. I then upgraded to DNN 4.6.2 and removed the panel, but some users got "stuck" in View mode, and they have no UI to change it.

So... is it stored in the DB against a user account? If so, can I run a script to reset all users to Edit mode?

Thanks

Thanks,
Rodney

Rod,

AFAIK the current mode is stored in a cookie.

Thanks for the answer Sebastian, but something very strange is happening here - when these users give me their credentials, I log on as them and the problem occurs immediately. Clearing the cookies does not help - it is not specific to the machine/browser it would seem.

Thanks,
Rodney
