On my production site (DNN 4.5.1/3) I am getting periodic pairs of General Exceptions followed closely by APP shut down (because of the hosting env ) and App restart.

The exceptions are:

Any idea on where to look for the source of this problem? The site was moved a couple weeks ago from GoDaddy to PowerDNN and then upgraded from 4.3.5 to 4.5.1.

It was upgraded yester day from 4.5.1 to 4.5.3 in hops that this version might have included a fix for this issue. The problem started sometime since the move/upgrade.

No new modules have been added during that period.  I tried looking to see what pages was being accessed at the time, but somehow the sitelog also became disabled. It has since been started again.

Look for a module in module definitions that has the Search capability checked, but does not have a BusinessControllerClass defined.

John I looked on the Host -> Module Def page and drilled down on several modules.  Where to I find the attributes that you mention?

I didn't see them anywhere that I could click to.  Since I am also seeing this on my localhost test platform I suppose that I could start deleting the modules that I have added most recently, but brute force is such an ugle development tool ;=}

Edit the module definition by clicking the pencil on the right in the module definitions list.  The fields I'm talking about are the ones with the red arrows pointing to them.

That would include:

  • DNN Announcements module (DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements.AnnouncementsController, DotNetNuke.Modules.Announcements)
  • DNN Forum module (DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.ThreadController, DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum)
  • DNN Gallery module (DotNetNuke.Modules.Gallery.Controller, DotNetNuke.Modules.Gallery)
  • DNN Help module (DotNetNuke.Modules.Help.HelpController, DotNetNuke.Modules.Help)
  • DNN Reports (DotNetNuke.Modules.Reports.ReportsController)
  • DNN Repository module (DotNetNuke.Modules.Repository.RepositoryController, DotNetNuke.Modules.Repository)
  • BizModules Ultra Photo Gallery (BizModules.UltraPhotoGallery.AlbumController, BizModules.UltraPhotoGallery)
  • DNN User Defined  Table module (DotNetNuke.Modules.UserDefinedTable.UserDefinedTableController, DotNetNuke.Modules.UserDefinedTable)

I hope that I have misunderstood your instructions, since this sure seems like a lot of modules.  I suspect the BizModules Ultra Photo Gallery, only because it was added around the time that the exceptions appear to have started.
