why "Remember login" feature does'nt work on all latest Dnn 4.x versions ??

In the web.config, there is a timeout attribute in the forms element which determines how long DotNetNuke will remember you.  Out of the box, DotNetNuke defaults that to 60 minutes, which is why it would seem to not work most of the time.

This seems an improper way to implement the remember me function. Normally wouldn't it be a cookie based solution that lasts for x days? Limiting the ability to remember it to 60 minutes seems like a waste to me as I have to login multiple times a day which defeats the purpose of a remember me function. Is there anyway for the users to change this?

Hi

I dont think so, using the web config is much better than using a cookie based approch.

 

In IIS, go into the properties of the website. Select the ASP.NET tab and edit the configuration. Select the authentication tab and adjust your cookie timeout value accordingly.

Just for the record, the web.config setting determines how long the cookie served by ASP.NET lasts before it expires.  It is still a "cookie-based" solution.

Secondly, to the question of whether a user can change the timeout, the answer would be no.  The only place where that setting is determined is through the web.config (or, as albertramsbottom noted, through the ASP.NET configuration tab in IIS).
