Hi,

I want to implement URL rewriting on my UserProfile module to retrieve a user by their displayname, for example,

instead of

http://www.pokerdiy.com/Home/PokerPlayerProfile/tabid/391/ID/1/Default.aspx

I will use

http://www.pokerdiy.com/rodney

I can't use the unique username as this could be a privacy flaw, but DisplayName is not unique. Has anyone encountered this issue or worked out a way to enforce a unique DisplayName?

Thanks,
Rodney

Rodney,

AFAIK this will require you to modify DNN authentication.

You can create CONSTRAINT in the database for table Users or UsersProfile. Then when user will try to register with existing DisplayName it will cause an exception.

I know, it is not good solution, but in other way you will need to modify Core (like Sebastian has written above).
