I need to get some information delivered to remote parts of the world with little or no internet connection. We still want to use DNN for the other folks that are contributing information and just do some sort of yearly snapshot of the site to give out.

Has anyone ever looked into a way to take a DNN site and put it on a CDROM?

I can think of two ways:

1. Have a program crawl the site and reconstruct it using normal html. No searching or other database functions would work, but it would be a nice and compact way of putting the content on other media

2. Build a webserver/sql server on a disk that would be run as a whole program and run the actual DNN site data.

You can just take HTML snapshots using any of a number of programs and services which do that.  Here are a few examples:

http://downloader.snowseed.com/index.html

Here's some great discussion with more links:

We just had to do the first HTML snapshot we've done in awhile, so I did a little fresh research and ended up using this free program:  HTTrack.

It worked great!
