DNN SOURCE CODE PACKAGE

The link located on the DNN download page to the Source code 6.2.0 - Source Code (New Install + Source Code) doesnt clearly identify the files nature.

Is the Install + Source download an Official DNN Community Release for v6.2 and is it now officially supported when building the project website as C#.  When reading the codeplex description of C# project, it states that the project is development only and not to be used for production releases.  I would really like to use C# version only as this is where my knowledge lies and I have NO KNOWLEDGE whatsoever about VB and find it very difficult to work with.

My goal is to use the Download to build and distribute DNN62 community sites where we are developing skins, modules and containers targeted at individual sites running on a common single server installation.

But if this is not the same as the official release and not reccomended, then that would of course not be an option.

Any clarification only this matter is extremely appreciated.

Thanks,

yes, that is the correct package. We converted to using c# with the 6.0.0 release - the notes you were reading were an experimental project that formed the basis of our converstion and it is no longer relevant. Please note, with source packages you must first build in release mode to run the packaging scripts to build the various extensions etc. Finally, in most cases there is no need to use the source package unless you intend to debug through dotnetnuke core code -you can build your own extensions against an install package fine

Thanks for the clarification but... still confused!

Are there remnents of VB still in the code?  When I look at the DarkKnight skin for example I see the very first line of the aide container is

<%@ Control language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" Explicit="True" Inherits="DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.Container" %>

I assume there are other declarations throughout the code that are using VB! Therefore I thought that I could use the source install release to build a pure C# build. You can probably hear, I am new and still getting my feet wet.  I have tried searching for documentation on how to get stated with DNN source that clearly outlines step for step the process but the only information I have located is dispersed randomly and usually only to do with module development, not about the source release itself.

Maybe you could point me to a good primer :-)

Thanks,

Bill

some aspx files still may contain vb fragments, but all compiled code and (most of) the web site project have been converted to c#.
