Hi Guys,

A client wishes to move their DNN site to my hosting services but the site was originally sqlexpress so the database is in the app_data folder. I have MS SQL Web Edition installed on my server and do not want to be really messing around with installing sql express.

Is it possible to attach the database in MS SQL Studio and add the network services user to it and change the we.config for now just to get him up and running. if yes what do I change the web.config strings to. I know how to attach the database.

Thanks in advance

Paul

yes, this is entirely possible - see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/302690/how-to-move-a-sql-server-express-mdf-file-to-a-different-sql-sever-express-serve for some tips. You can either create a new standrd user (make sure they're a dbo) or use the networkservice user -depending on the approach you use standard security or trusted connection - http://www.connectionstrings.com/sql-server-2008
