Just as a suggestion, there really isn't a need to have a third party Link Image module (Bonosoft) and an Image module.  The new Image module should have url link ability built in.  If you add a URL -it's a link, if no url - it's just an image (or video, extra).

Please excuse and forgive our tardiness in replying to this request. I've added your request to the tracker. The only problem that I see might be with our new support for other media types. This option may only be available for images. I'm sure that would suffice for now, but please let me know if you (or anyone) has any ideas/opinions on the subject.

Good point.
I think we really need to add a link to an image.

One reason why there still should be an Image module.
In Image module settings, you have the ability to add "A Link To An External Resource".
One suggestion: a short line of text above the image.
One solution: converting this short line of text to an URL.

And I agree (once more), Links module should enable us to add an icon (not necessarily a big image) close to the link (like Bonosoft Image did).

This can be done with the module header text found on the module setting.

One solution: converting this short line of text to an URL.

The Header and Footer will render HTML tags.

That's a good point. The current work-around could be to put <a href="mylink.aspx">Here's my link... in the header and </a> in the footer. Obviously, this isn't the ideal; but at least it's a work-around. As far as providing text above/below the image, I think that, if this is something important, we should provide the option within the module vs. relying on the header/footer.
