Hmmm... don`t know what happened to my original post. I thought I hit `Submit` but maybe I didn`t...argh. So here it is again...

I uploaded & installed the News Module 4.0.0 in my DNN 4.8.4 site. Everything looked ok, I added a Feed, then hit Update, at which point I got a Critical Error on the top content panel. As follows:

A critical error has occurred.
Validation of v13wstat3 MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.

(It would appear I need to be logged in as an Administrator to see this error message...)

More info.

  • The error message is displayed regardless of what user/role I use (public or admin).
  • As joe public user, the other symptoms included (a) no Event Calendar data, (b) no Survey Module data, i.e. the containers where displayed, but nothing in them.
  • As administrator, when I was in "Edit" mode, all containers were empty, it was like I was actually in "Design" mode.
  • I was able to get rid of the error message and return things to "normal" by deleting the News Module from the page in question.

Hi Jack,

What do I need to do to replicate this? Are you using a web farm cluster? The v13wstat3 is used in the edit screen but not in the main screen.
