Hello everybody,

I'm new to DotNetNuke and I'm a little curious about the modules in general and the survey module in specific.
I have to build a web application where users can log on and fill out certain forms, which contain the standard form controls such as radio buttons, check boxes, drop downs, text boxes, text areas...

I thought the survey module could serve as a base for those forms. But some of the above mentioned controls are not supported (I understood that this is because the survey module serves a different purpose).
Nevertheless, is it possible to use the survey module as a basis for my needs and program the rest using standard asp.net.
Is there another module that serves my need better?
How would you approach my problem?

Custom forms is one of the few notable missing pieces of the "core" DotNetNuke package.  There are a number of add-on modules that can provide custom form creation.  I happen to use a module called "XMOD" for this.  Many DNN users are fans of Dynamic forms.  H2O is another option often mentioned.

It's worth noting that these modules handle data differently from each other -- for instance, XMOD keeps all form-design info and data submissions within its own DB tables while H2O actually creates a new DB table for every new form created.  I create a LOT of forms and prefer XMOD's method of DB storage as it keeps the DB tidy.  On the flip side, when I want to use a non-XMOD module to query form data, I have to use helper DB functions where users of H2O are able to query table data directly.

Check out Custom forms Pro by Taknology.  It allows emailing completed forms, saving forms to the DNN database, reviewing submitted forms and much, much more.
