Security  Modified By Bill MacIntyre on 11/23/2011 9:59:14 PM

I have a client that uses the repository module to store documents including some PDFs that should only be viewable by authorized users.

The role based security works for anyone trying to access the documents via the web site but...

We have discovered that some of the documents are showing up in Google searches and are linkable and viewable via another DNN portal on the same DNN instance
http://MyOtherDNNPortal/Portals/4/The...

How can I prevent this?

I have added a Spiders.txt file to the root of the site to prevent search engines from spidering protected folders but in the meantime, anyone that knows the URL can view the documents.
I have seen some forum entries about changing the templates to use the secure file options but could not find enough info to be able to do so- Which template etc ?
Is there a better way?
If I could upload the files as secure files?? and link to them somehow would that work and how would I do it?
And ould I have to delete and recreate all the repository entries?
Any help much appreciated.

you can change the folder to use secure filesystem or secure database - http://www.mitchelsellers.com/blogs/articletype/articleview/articleid/167/dotnetnuke-folder-types-explained.aspx
