Hi,

I have an instance of the dashboard module on a client homepage that links to an instance of the repository module on another page using "latest uploads". It all seems to work just fine, except that clicking on a title link in the dashboard only navigates to the repository page and not the item itself. You still have to click "for more information" to see the contents associated with the title...

It would be great that it would navigate to (and open) the item itself.

Is this normal for the dashboard, or am I missing something?

Thanks.

Jim

well, it should navigate to the page that contains the repository module, and it should also "filter" the repository to only show the item you clicked on in the dashboard module.

So, for example, the expected functionality is that you click on an item in the dashboard, the page changes to the page with the associated repository module on it, and you should see ONLY the item you clicked on, at which point you should be able to interact with it, ie: download, comment, rate, etc.

One thing that could throw it off is if the item is assigned to a category that no longer exists.  Since the hierarchy of filtering in the repository module is Category->Item, the module, when being filtered first sets the category to one that the item belongs to, otherwise even though the item exists, if the category was set to one in which the item does not belong, it would not show.

it looks like you are using the Metro template, or at least a template that is using the Details view.  I'm hearing that when clicking on a dashboard item, it's going to the item list page, showing the item, but the behavior you want is that it goes directly to the details page ..

Is that correct?  currently it does not have that ability, the dashboard would need to know which template you are using and if that template has a details view, etc.  If it's critical, let me know and I can look at that for a future update.

Hi,

Thanks for the follow-up. Clicking an item in the dashboard (at least my installation) only navigates to the page with the repository on it. In fact, it gets a little worse. I added 20 items to the repository and had the repository pagenate at 5 items (1 of 4 and so forth). All of the items show up in the dashboard as expected, but clicking on a dashboard item that should be on the 3rd "page", still only navigates to the "first" page of the pagenated repository. So the user has to hunt to find the desired item.

I've tried the "Metro" template as well as the "Articles" template on the same data, and I get the same results.

Thanks.

Jim

You are correct ... it works as designed if the dashboard is on the same page as the repository module, but not if it's on a different page.  It certainly used to work, must have broken in a recent update.

I'll take a look and see what I can do to fix that.

Thanks for letting me know...
