I was able to make this problem go away by clicking on "My Settings" in the Forum, then resetting everything under "Tracking/Subscriptions".

I experienced this error when I upgraded my site to DNN 4.9.0 on my administrator (but not host) account. Very frustrating.

I can report that the following "fix" (as reported in some previous posts) worked for me:

  1. In the Forum module, go to My Settings.
  2. Expand the "Tracking/Subscription" section.
  3. Expand the "Tracking Forum" tree. (All items were unchecked for me.)
  4. Check all items and select Update.
  5. Repeat steps 1-3, then set your real tracking choices.

After this, I was able add new posts again.

Thanks to all for helping find this work-around.

As I reported early in this thead it is a timeout issue.  Between the next version comming out with some fixes you could set higher the session time out of your portal.
