I myself also got an error when I was trying to install the source version but never got an error while installing the install version. Maybe something in web.config was altered when it shouldn't have been altered :(

I'm getting the same errors as previous posters to this thread.  I'm trying to install version 3.02.00 of the Blog Module

When I tried to upload the Source.zip, I got:

StartJob Reading DNN file
Info DNN file is in valid 3.0 format.
Info ...
Failure ResourceFile specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: DNN_Blog_Resources.zip
Info Loading files info
Failure File specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.dll
Failure File specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.SqlDataProvider.dll
Failure File specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: Uninstall.SqlDataProvider
Info Loading Modules info
Info Loading Control info for 'View_Blog' module
Info Loading Control info for 'Blog_List' module
Info Loading Control info for 'New_Blog' module
Info Loading Control info for 'Search_Blog' module
Info Loading Control info for 'Blog_Archive' module
Failure ExceptionSystem.Exception: Dnn load failed, aborting at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnAdapter_V2.ReadDnn() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.Install()
 

And when I tried to upload the Install.zip for the Blog Module I got:

Failure ExceptionSystem.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: type at System.Activator.CreateInstance(Type type, Boolean nonPublic) at DotNetNuke.Framework.Reflection.CreateObject(String TypeName, String CacheKey) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstaller_V3.GetDesktopModuleSettings(DesktopModuleInfo objDesktopModule, PaFolder Folder) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.RegisterModules(PaFolder Folder, ArrayList Modules, ArrayList Controls) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaDnnInstallerBase.Install(PaFolderCollection folders) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.ResourceInstaller.PaInstaller.Install()

A fix for this would be appreciated.  Thanks!

This fix allowed me to UPLOAD the module, but when I went to use it, I encountered the following error:

A critical error has occurred.
Multiple controls with the same ID 'ctr' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs.

prior to the last failure you have some other failures:

Failure ResourceFile specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: DNN_Blog_Resources.zip
Info Loading files info
Failure File specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.dll
Failure File specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: DotNetNuke.Modules.Blog.SqlDataProvider.dll
Failure File specified in the dnn could not be found in the zip file: Uninstall.SqlDataProvider

obviously the dnn specifies some files that it does not find in the zip file. there are to remedeies to this problem:

if these files are needed for the sound functionality of the module

add these files to the zip

else

remove entries related to them from the dnn file!
