Upgrade DNN5 below 5.2.32011/10/08 10:28 AM by messmail
IMO any DNN5 version < 5.2.3, should first be upgraded to 5.2.3. I have upgraded several installations from 5.1 up and most of them I had to first upgrade to DNN 5.2.3, a direct upgrade to 5.4.4 did not work.

Upgrade 5.0 & 5.12011/10/08 11:50 AM by messmail
I'm upgrading a 5.1.2 version ATM and it only succeeds if I use these steps: 05.01.04 05.02.03 05.04.04 etc.

So IMO these steps should be added, agree?

Upgrade 4.9.4 -> 6.1.12011/11/26 06:21 AM by ojooris
Dear DNN community,

We waited very long to do an upgrade… so far that we had to upgrade from 4.9.4 -> 6.1.1. I struggled a lot with the suggested upgrade path. Therefor I tried a new test doing the upgrade in 1 shot, and guess what: it worked from the first try, with only green success messages! I have more than a hundred self-made modules running on it together with a dozen snowcovered modules, none of them gave me real trouble (yet).

So my advice: First try to do the upgrade in 1 shot, if you stumble to weird errors, you can do it in steps. But testing this “one shot” first, will gain you a lot of time, so it is surely worth the effort of trying! Don’t forget to back up your SQL database and IIS files, then you have no worries when something goes wrong.

Best regards Olivier Jooris
