Brad Bamford added the idea Stop Page Refresh After ClientSide Module Deletion

What is the purpose of refreshing the page every time a module is deleted using the new Action Menus ?

Why not after the "Are you sure" confirmation:
Process the back-end stuff using WebAPI, then if sucessful, remove the Module via jQuery ?

Andrew Newth added the idea Module Title and Container selection

It would be great to have the option of setting/changing the module title and container settings while in the edit content screen (mainly for HTML module really) I think this would save time and would also be easier for clients to use and learn. This could be an option that could be set in site settings.

I train our clients in how to update their sites, almost all of them find going into settings to change the title an extra step that complicates and slows the process.

Gregory Demotchkine added the idea Provile visibility settings and display

I have 2 imrovements for the Profile:

1) Instead of a drop down menu, display a radiobox list for each profile setting. This is very important, since at a single glanse a user can see his current visibility settings (without manually pullig down each menu) and quickly modify them (again without manually pullig down each menu)

2) If someone is not authorized to view your settings, the token
displays ******** . This looks awful (seems like prehistoric developer logic to me) and just not fun. Either informing the person to friend the user to find out more or just not display anything, but no stars please...

Eyal Ec added the idea Delete and Trash instead of Archive messages

The inability to delete messages in message center causes huge problems, for example when users are limited to a number of emails for their account.

Shaun Walker added the idea Open Specific Tab In DNN Tab Control Based On URL

It would be very useful to be able to construct a URL which includes a hash identifier that matches one of the anchor identifiers in the DNN tab control, and then framework would automatically open the identified tab when the page is requested:

ie. if Page1 on my site had a module that contained a DNN Tab control that had 3 tabs with identifiers of #rbTab1, #rbTab2, #rbTab3 then I could construct a URL of:

http://www.mysite.com/Page1.aspx#rbTab2

and Tab2 would be the visible/active tab when the page loaded.

Gregory Demotchkine added the idea Installing extensions using dnn file structure

I'm running into the following problem:
After moving from localhost to a production site,
I cannot seem to upload files larger than 3 mb (approximately).

In any case why would I want to upload my 20-50 extensions manually and wait?
Why can't I ftp all the install zips to my Portals folder in DNN site and then choose the extensions (or even better many extensions) to be installed from the Dnn folder?

This is really important for also upgrading certain modules. There's quite a lot of updating going.

Also for development side of things, I'll be testing often our different releases on the production sit, so I really find it annoying to not be able to ftp things.

Installing modules in batch mode is also a great idea. for example i bought a package from a 3rd party developper with 35 modules.. I really can't be bothered to install them manually.

Vicenç Masanas added the idea Assign portal alias to languages

It's very common on a multi language site to have several domains pointing to the same domain (www.domain.com, www.domain.fr, www.domain.es, ...).
Would be great we could link each domain to a language:
- browsing a specific domain should load the site by default to the linked language
- language selector should change domain on language change

That feature would be very interesting also for SEO

Will Strohl added the idea Make CAPTCHA an Extension Point

It would be nice to turn the CAPTCHA capability into a provider like texteditor, url, etc. This would allow site owners to add their own CAPTCHA control to the site in a way that doesn't detract from the overall UX since all views that display CAPTCHA will be using the same one. It would also allow site owners to use more creative, interactive, and robust CAPTCHA tools - not to mention add yet one more thing that module vendors could provide in the Forge and Store.

Joe Brinkman added the idea JavaScript Library Management

Developers should be able to package and distribute JavaScript packages just like any other DotNetNuke extension. When installed the JavaScript library would be placed in the resources folder structure. Any Developer would be able to request a JavaScript library be loaded by calling a RequestRegistration API which would ensure that the Library was loaded if available.

Michael Tobisch added the idea Allow to add a message to friend requests

Friend request should be more friendly. Sometimes I don't have an idea who is behind some user name or display name - and then, this someone asks me at a live meeting: "Why did you not accept my friendship request?"

It should at least be possible to add a short text like "Hi, it's me, Max Mustermann - sure, you don't know my username 08-15".

Larry Eisenstein added the idea 2013 DNN7 Design Challenge

There were some great open source skins that came out of the last design challenge. I'm actually using one of them on my site that I modified.

Now that we have all these changes that are breaking DNN6 skins, we should have another challenge to get some good DNN7 open source skins.

Geoff Barlow added the idea Page and module permissions

To follow up on this post :

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Community-Exchange/Question/3606/Page-and-Module-permissions.aspx

The filed bug can be found here : http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=25163&PROJID=2

At present you cannot set the permissions of a module when the user has edit rights on the page.

For example : I create a role called "Site Owner", the "Site Owner" does not have Admin rights. The Site Owner can edit the page details like the SEO info of the page. If you place a module into that page that you do not want the "Site Owner" to have edit permissions you would set this in the permissions of the module but this is not the case, all modules on that page inherit the rights of the page so therefore the "Site Owner" can also edit the module that you do not want them to.

I believe this is a bug (and other people agree with me)

I think it is a good idea to have permissions for modules so that they can have separate permissions than the page permissions and not inherit the permissions from the page permissions.

Brian Dukes added the idea Persistent Anonymous Users

Allow a user record to be created for anonymous users. There are some sites where you'd like to lower the barrier to entry, so that anonymous users can have a persistent cookie which remembers who they are from session to session, without having to log in. Then, once they decide they like the site, they can convert their account to a full account with credentials (e.g. Stack Overflow).

stuartf added the idea Sitewide Module management

An interface that allows admins in a module settings interface to assign a module to any or all pages (menu elements) by a simple selection or deselection of checkboxes.
It should also keep the module position and containers.

This would be an enhancement to the current option "Apply to all " or Apply to new pages only"

This would be similar to how Joomla manages modules and components accross a whole site and would provide a less technical solution than skin objects.

Willem Bonekamp added the idea Update/Improve Core modules

DNN is mainly focused on making to core better and adding core features. But we have several core modules that haven't been updated for years. Maybe it's a suggestion to update/improve or add core modules.

Ofcourse there are several third party modules but to provide a better integration of modules I prefere the core modules.

Larry Eisenstein added the idea Event Viewer Enhancements

I'd like to see more features added to the Event Viewer to allow pro-active troubleshooting and administration.

Some ideas:
- Filter on multiple Types (Checkbox instead of DropdownList)
- Be able to filter/search the list based on TextBox
- Select All option to select all entries
- Export entries to Excel/PDF from the page
- Setup triggers multiple triggers that will send emails based on certain types (Send an email to HelpDesk@abc.com when User Locked Out OR Password Sent Failure)

Dylan Barber added the idea Community Exchange Indicators

On the community exchange on DotNetNuke site change the color of the ANSWERS indicator to blue or yellow (or something other than green) until someone has accepted an answer. I feel like anyone who could answer a question never looks at it after the first answer since it is green and at least sub consciously we think that means it has been answered and accepted.

Minor but might help get more than one answer on community voice questions.

Sunil added the idea Live Audience opinion module

This module will be designed with keeping a number of points in mind. These are like:
1.Get your website more interactive by attracting users in some way to visit your site.
2.Chance to earn money and at the same time let the visitors to earn.
3.Provide extra service to your registered user.
4.Get to know, the best from different opinions of different people. Also let the audience to decide the best.

Actually main concern of this module is to pick the best opinion about certain thing when you are in confused state.

functional:
Admin set up a topic (either by himself or in request of a registered user) for certain date.
Anonymous users/registered user will give their opinion.

optional:
choosing best opinion and awarding.
Best opinion will be decided either by admin or maximum voted opinion. Voting option we can provide to users participating.

Main thing is that topic will be active for the period set at the creation time and topic owner will get the live feedback of audience.

cfenvey added the idea Skin Object Settings

I would like to have something like SkinObjectSettings similar like the ModuleSettings for a module.

Perhaps making it possible to add a settings.ascx to the manifest which can be used to configure the skin object.

Kind regards,

Michel

Geoff Barlow added the idea Admin settings for host Premium modules to listbox

In the Admin > Site Settings > Advanced settings Tab and "Host settings" column, the premium modules select was 2 list boxes, one for available modules and one for selected modules in Dnn 6.

In Dnn7 this is now just a dropdown with check boxes in it.

This causes a huge amount of time to go through all modules in the list to make sure the client has the right modules available to him/her.

The system of 2 listboxes in Dnn6 was allot quicker to select the right modules.

Please change this back to make it easier to do this functionality, it now takes 5x longer to accomplish.
